NAPSA Stars FC suffered their seventh loss of the season on Sunday when they lost to Lumwana Radiants FC in their week-29 fixture of the Eden National Division One League.
The Pensioner’s trip to North Western Province saw them record three points out of a possible six from the two games the team travelled for.
After having a great game on Wednesday and beating Quattro FC by two goals to nil in Kalumbila, the Pensioners had a rough Sunday afternoon losing by a goal to nil in Lumwana.
Lumwana scored through a penalty which was awarded to them by referee Francis Musenge in the 40th minute of the match when Keegan Zulu handled inside the box.
The decision frustrated NAPSA Stars players who felt the referee could have done better in making that decision.
Despite the loss, the Pensioners had a better chance at goal as compared to the host who did not have clear chances until their penalty kick.
And in a post-match interview, Coach Perry Mutapa said he was happy with his team’s performance despite the loss.
The Coach who refused to talk about officiating said he is now focused on the next match which is ABSA Cup semi-final match against Nkana FC.
Coach Perry who made four substitutions in this match, said that his team is not under pressure but taking each game as it comes.
“Bad result but I think the performance was excellent, we did everything right and I would not want to talk about other things,
“We have no pressure, our aim is to bounce back and we are working towards that, we deserved a point especially after good performance but football has three results, so we focus on the next assignment,” Coach Perry adds.
The loss to Lumwana saw NAPSA Stars stuck on third position with 50points after 29 games played so far.
With only five games remaining to conclude the League, NAPSA Stars will need to work extra hard in the remaining matches especially looking at how tight the log is shaping up with all top six teams all fighting for promotion.
