Finally, NAPSA Stars registered a victory in their week-26 match played against Kabwe Warriors on Saturday after going five games without winning.
The Perry Mutapa drilled side put up a spirited fight to bag all the three points from a rejuvenated Kabwe Warriors side that has done so well under their new coach Numba Mumamba.
This was a second win on the road for NAPSA Stars who have struggled to get maximum points playing away, having only recorded one against Nkwazi before this victory.
It was Mwachiaba Akakulubelwa that had the first chance for the host side, with his great shot in close range that saw Mukwanya display his excellent skills to stop the prolific striker from scoring.
In the 24th minute NAPSA Stars came close with Fredrick Mwimanzi putting in a great cross which was unfortunately too much for either Pinoki Vuvu or Musonda Kapembwa to connect.
The host came knocking again with chances presented to them in the 31st and 45th minute of the match through Dominic Chanda and Ocean Mushure, but all efforts proved futile for the Kabwe based team.
The 56th minute was a chance that could have seen the host get a goal when Mukwanya was made to showcase his incredible skills again, denying Mwachiaba from scoring.
NAPSA ‘s Zikiru Adams who came on in the 59th minute replacing Chaniza Zulu had a chance in the 67th minute, but he took his effort slightly wide.
Finally, a goal came for NAPSA Stars in the 81st minute with substitute Jimmy Mukeya who came on in the 59th minute to replace Pinoki Vuvu, scoring in close range from a Daniel Adoko pass.
“The boys had a desire to win in this game and we saw this even from the previous game we had against Kansanshi, so I could tell that we would have a good match,” Coach Perry in his post-match reaction.
The victory saw NAPSA Stars move two places up the ladder from 10th to eighth position with 36 points from 26 games played.
