Pensioners were upset by Lumwana Radiants away in Lumwana, with the North Western side claiming a 1-0 victory over NAPSA Stars at Lumwana Stadium on Saturday.
NAPSA Stars who have maintained their two points in three matches, were going into this match having recorded two draws.
Despite enjoying most possession in this match, the Pensioners were punished with a Daniel Adoko own goal as the Perry-Mutapa coached side were trying to defend a long throw in.
The Pensioners failed to make the most of their early advantages with the home side getting their goal in the 79th minute to see them defeat NAPSA Stars at Lumwana Stadium once again following the defeat from last season.
In the 21st minute, Lumwana had a great chance to put them ahead but Aubrey Funga’s shot hit the side net.
Six minutes after this, Pensioners responded with a Thomas Banda shot that landed directly into the goalkeeper’s arms.
More opportunities fell to the Pensioners, who failed to capitalize after a scramble inside the penalty area just a minute before the hour mark, with Keegan Zulu’s shot at goal kept out by Lumwana defense.
Ghanaian Daniel Adoko issued several warnings to the home side but all his chances either went wide or collected by the goalkeeper.
And in a post-match interview, coach Perry Mutapa expressed his disappointment with how the result turned out saying his boys deserved a victory or a draw after managing to hold Lumwana for so long at their own backyard.
The Coach also expressed concern with his team’s constant lack of scoring saying they are doing everything they can to get goals in these matches.
Coach Perry also managed to use up all the five substitutions in this match.
Napsa Stars FC next match is a home fixture against Choma side Green Eagles FC.
