BANDA, MWIMANZI & LEONARD OUT, AS NAPSA HOST GBFC AT HEROES STADIUM TODAY

THE MTN Super League is back in action this afternoon with NAPSA Stars FC set to host Green Buffalos FC for a week-29 match of the MTN Super League scheduled for Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

This is a reverse fixture for these two sides who met in the first round with GBFC emerging victorious in that match played at Edwin Imboela Stadium.

MATCH OVERVIEW AND TEAM FORM

Only three points separate these two sides going into this match, with GBFC sitting on a better position on second place with 45 points, while NAPSA Stars are fifth on the log with 42 points.

NAPSA Stars have enjoyed a three-game winning streak as they head into this match which has seen the Perry Mutapa-coached side move from 10th to fifth place on the log.

The Pensioners are now chasing third position if they beat Green Buffalos today, but this will also depend on how third and fourth placed Forest Rangers and FC MUZA will perform in their respective matches.

NAPSA Stars head into this fixture on a high, having collected a win on the road in their last outing that saw them beat Zanaco FC by a goal to nil.

Green Buffaloes FC on the other head into this match coming from recording two draws against Green Eagles and Power Dynamos FC respectively.

The Masauso Tembo-coached side also lost their ABSA Cup game played against Forest Rangers to see them go three matches without collecting maximum points.

But NAPSA Stars FC head Coach Perry Mutapa says today’s game being a local derby will not be easy for both sides but has also added that GBFC will be the side under pressure looking at how they would not want to lose their top four slot.

TEAM NEWS

NAPSA Stars will be without the services of two key Central defenders in captain Luka Banda and Fredrick Mwimanzi. Banda is out serving one game suspension while Mwimanzi is out because he is game locked as NAPSA Stars will be facing his parent club.

Defensive midfielder Leonard Mulenga is no exception as he is also coming from GBFC.

Coach Perry has also confirmed that he is still uncertain as to whether he will be able to use Dickson Chapa and Musonda Kabengele who had suffered injuries and are yet to gain full recovery.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

In their last four meetings, GBFC has dominated, winning twice while NAPSA Stars has won once. The other meeting ended in a draw.
