The year 2022 is quite a special year for our club. On the pitch, this is a special year in that it is the year we achieved ASBSA Cup success and made a return to the Super League.
The other significance that this year serves is that it happens to be the year we are celebrating our partnership with an all-weather friend, Stanbic Bank Zambia.
What a great partnership our Club has enjoyed with Stanbic Bank Zambia since 2019 when they joined hands with us in our efforts to take this club to greater heights.
We have had great support from the Bank and we are excited that we enter the new season with them.
The Club also continues to receive support from our main sponsor, the National Pensions Scheme Authority (NAPSA). They have been a great parent to the Club and we remain grateful.
As you know, football is proving to be one of the biggest employers to many young men and women and as a club, we are working hard to support Government’s effort in providing jobs to citizens.
Over the years, NAPSA Stars has established itself as a brand in Zambian football and we remain open to prospective sponsors who would want to partner with our club.
Tomorrow, the team will set its season rolling with a Charity Shield match against League Champions Red Arrows FC at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka. As a board, we are proud of the team for all the efforts put in last season to reach this far.
It’s because of these efforts that we get to play the Charity Shield, a match that sees us be part of a football family that gives back to the community.
We are also happy because we get to play this match by virtue of being defending champions of the ABSA Cup competition. We could have never wished to commence the season in any other way.
For a team coming from participating in the lower division, we did quite well for ourselves and as a club, we are hopeful that the coming season will be great for NAPSA Stars FC.
Of course, we want to be as realistic as possible and the most important thing for us is ensuring that the team stabilizes in the MTN Super League. We want to be able to maintain our spot in the FAZ elite league.
Now, allow me to wish the team all the best tomorrow as we face the Zambia Airforce (ZAF) Sponsored side in the match.
To the team, my message is simple, ‘We have beaten Arrows before and we can do it again,’
I also want to take this time to call on our supporters to turn out in numbers to support our beloved team just like they have done before and always.
On behalf of my entire board, I wish team NAPSA Stars FC the very best for the 2022/23 football season.
