COACH PERRY NOT WORRIED ABOUT COMPLACENCY

NAPSA Stars Football Club Head Coach Perry Mutapa says his team will need a good recovery process going into the remaining matches.

Coach Perry was saying this yesterday after his team beat Might Mufulira Wanderers FC by a goal to nil in a week-30 match of the Eden National Division One League played at Sunset Stadium.

The Coach said he noticed his players looked fatigued in yesterday’s match, but was happy that they still managed to bag the three points.

“Our biggest target is qualifying to the Super League and the win has made us get closer. We need a good recovery process especially going into the remaining matches. The game today showed us that there is no complacency in the team. We have asked the players to sacrifice and that is what is happening, Coach Perry added.

Meanwhile the victory has taken third placed Napsa Stars to 53 points, six points better than fourth placed Nchanga Rangers FC, and closer to promotion with the team now looking for five points to confirm their qualification.

This will also depend on how fourth and fifth placed Nchanga and Wanderers will perform in their remaining matches.

Thomas Banda’s goal in the 19th minute was enough to punish the visitors after he brilliantly beat Wanderer’s defenders and goalkeeper to score in an empty net.

Before this chance, Banda missed a couple of them that could have seen Napsa score earlier than the 19th minute.

And the Pensioners suffered a blow in the 71st minute when right back Bornwell Silengo accumulated a second Yellow and was sent off to see Napsa finish the match with 10 men.

Meanwhile, the visitors had a great game but straggled to get a clear shot on target in this match with the result seeing them stuck on fifth place with 46 points.

Coach Perry Mutapa in his post-match interview described the encounter as tough, but applauded his boys for a great fight.

“This was a big game and a big result for us especially after having another difficult game against Nkana in the previous match we played in the ABSA Cup competition,” Coach Perry said.

The Coach also stressed about how much of a big blow it was for him to lose a left back in Bornwell Silengo after the player was given a second yellow card and sent off.

Coach Perry also added that he has continued to urge his players to sacrifice for the team in the remaining matches so as to finish on a respectable position.

NAPSA Stars are third on the log with 53 points and are set for another match against Police College in a week 31 match scheduled for Sunday.
