After nine years of his service at the club, Physical trainer Donewell Yobe has left the club to try out another challenge.
Yobe who was recently unveiled by Kansanshi Dynamos FC, joined NAPSA Stars FC in 2012 when the team was being coached by Peter Kaumba. He joined the Club as a player and played from 2013 MTN super League Season to 2016 Season.
In 2014, Yobe was voted team captain up to the 2017 Season when he handed over the captain badge to Dickson Chapa.
He worked with a number of coaches at NAPSA Stars including the late Hector Chilombo, late Dick Ngwenya, Coach Wilson Mwale, Evans Sakala, Linos Makwaza and Coach Tenant Chilumba.
Yobe told NAPSA Stars Media that it was coach Tenant Chilumba that encouraged him in 2017, to take up a FAZ coaching course to quickly help him get into the coaching system.
He explains that during the 2017 period, Coach Tenant Chilumba helped him commence his role as a developmental coach stating that this is when his journey as a coach commenced.
The coach says he is sad to be leaving the NAPSA Stars family, but had to make this decision to help him enhance his career.
“It was not an easy decision for me, I sat down with my wife for a very long time to make this decision and I feel it will really help me enhance my career as I need to try out a new challenge,” Yobe adds.
During his time as player with NAPSA Stars FC, Yobe helped the team finish fourth on the log in 2014 after surviving relegation in 2013.
As Coach, Yobe helped the team manage to reach Barclays Cup final in 2017, which the team lost to Zanaco FC.
In the 2019/2020 season, Yobe saw the team finish fourth on the log, a development which saw NAPSA Stars qualify for the CAF confederations Cup competition, and saw the team reach Group stage
He states that he has had both good and challenging memories with the club, and leaving at such a time is an emotional moment for him.
“It’s disheartening, I feel like I’m leaving home but this is football you never know what tomorrow can bring. It was emotional for me to leave the NAPSA family but I had to make the decision to help enhance my career,”
“The players have been awesome, I related well with them and I pray they continue with the same spirit. I believe the team will soon come back to the super league,” Yobe adds.
The coach has also thanked management and the board for according him the opportunity to serve both as coach and player at the club.
“Management has been very supportive since I joined the club and they have worked tirelessly to see the club grow into what it is now,” Yobe said.
The club has thanked coach Yobe for his services and has wished him all the best in his future endeavors.
