LUMWANA ENDS EIGHT WINLESS STREAK AGAINST NAPSA

It was a bad visit to North Western Province for the Pensioners who failed to collect maximum points after losing 1-0 to Lumwana Radiants FC.

This was in a rescheduled week-seven game of the MTN/FAZ Super league played at Solwezi’s Independence Stadium.

And this was a first win for Lumwana against Napsa after failing to emerge victorious against the Pensioners in the last eight meetings with their last victory being in the 2016 season.

NAPSA Coach Mohamed Fathi made a few changes to his starting line-up that beat Prison Leopard FC 1-0 on Sunday by introducing Bornwell Silengo, Daniel Adoko and Bornwell Mwape who replaced Lawrence Chungu, Emmanuel Mayuka and Chanda Mushili.

And just in the 29th minute, Mwape was withdrawn for Emmanuel Mayuka, with the other substitution being Enock Sabumukama who was introduced in the 69th minute.

NAPSA Stars seemed to have controlled the game but failed to convert their chances and only to be punished by the hosts who got their goal in the 86th minute through Neba Van Basten.

Striker Emmanuel Mayuka missed clear cut chances in the 42nd and 80th minute to put Napsa ahead after receiving great crosses from Austin Banda who seemed to have enjoyed his game despite the loss.

Midfielder Simon Nkhata also missed a great chance to score for Napsa with his shot being parried off by Lumwana goalkeeper in the 85th minute.

And the post-match, coach Fathi said his side missed a lot of chances adding that this costed them.

Fathi added that going forward he needs services of a fast striker in Jimmy Mukeya who has been on loan to Malaite Rangers FC.

“We played well but missed a lot of chances. Going forward we need a fast striker like Jimmy Mukeya. Our opponents just had one chance and they managed to score,” Fathi added.

Meanwhile Lumwana coach Tenant Chembo who has npow managed to record a second win in role said consistency paid off for his side.

Chembo also added that playing NAPSA was not easy but congratulated his side for the victory.

NAPSA Stars FC plays their next match this Saturday against Red Arrows FC in Lusaka.
