Napsa Stars Football Club suffered a 2-1 defeat at the expenses of Young Green Buffalos Football Club in a week-22 game played at Woodlands Stadium last Saturday.
This was the fourth loss of the season for the Pensioners who seemed to have outplayed their visitors despite recording a loss.
Napsa Stars settled so fast compared to their opponents when Thomas Banda had an opportunity of scoring with a powerful header which went slightly above the top bar in the third minute before YGBFC defender Daliso Daka wasted a chance from an open play in the 19th minute of the game.
When the Pensioners looked to have controlled the game, Robert Magadani of YGBFC chipped in with the ball going above the head of Goal Keeper Philip Banda in the 21st minute of the game to see the visitors take the lead.
It had to take 36 minutes of the game to cancel YGBFC’s lead with a long-range goal cracker which came from Doisy Soko.
The second half was dominated by the home team with a lot of chances not being converted into goals before Aubrey Chella of YGBFC scored in the 84th minute of the game to make it 2-1.
In a post-match interview, Napsa Stars Head Coach Perry Mutapa said his team played very well despite losing the game and attributed the loss to lack of converting a lot of chances into goals.
Coach Perry also expressed happiness with striker Doisy Soko who played his first game since October and scored a brilliant goal for NAPSA Stars.
“We could have finished YGBFC just in the first half but I guess it was not our day. I am happy with the performance and my expectations are high for our next fixture,” Coach Perry adds.
With the result recorded, Napsa Stars remain second on the log with 40 points from 22 games played having won 11, drawn Seven (7) and lost four (4).
Napsa Stars next game will be against MUZA FC in a week 23 away fixture.
