Napsa Stars’ highly anticipated match against Power Dynamos at Woodlands Stadium ended in disappointment as the home team suffered a 2-nil defeat.
The match began on a high note, with both teams creating scoring opportunities however, it was the visitors who took an early lead in the 13th minute. Power Dynamos was awarded a penalty after a foul in the 18-yard box, and Titus Chansa converted from the spot with ease.
Despite their best efforts, Napsa Stars struggled to equalize in the first half as Power Dynamos seemed to be in control, and at halftime, Napsa Stars found themselves trailing by a goal.
In an effort to change the game’s dynamics, Head Coach Sipho Mumbi made two tactical substitutions at halftime. Evans Kayombo Jr. replaced Daniel Adoko, while Keagan Zulu came in for Luka Banda. The changes sparked some life into the game, with the home team creating several chances, but failing to convert.
As the game wore on, Napsa Stars continued to push for an equalizer, Jimmy Mukeya replaced Simon Nkhata in the 60th minute, while Emarson Kabwe came in for Godfrey Binga in the 69th minute.
Despite their valiant efforts, Napsa Stars’ hopes of a comeback were dashed in the 84th minute. Power Dynamos extended their lead through Chifundo Mphasi, securing a 2-nil victory.
The match also marked the debut of Moses Chileshe, who replaced Witson Banda and played his first game for Napsa Stars.
Following the defeat, Head Coach Sipho Mumbi described the loss as “terrible” but commended his players for putting up a good fight. “It was not an easy game, we had chances we could have utilized, but it’s part of football. We will go back, work on our mistakes, and hopefully win our next game,” he said.
The loss to Power Dynamos leaves Napsa Stars in 9th position with 38 points on the Zambian Premier League table.

Napsa Stars will look to bounce back from this defeat when they travel to Mazabuka for an away fixture against FC Muza on April 9th, 2025.
