Napsa Stars finally broke their winless streak with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nkana FC. The tightly contested match saw Nkana dominate the first half, but Napsa Stars turned the tables in the second half with a spirited performance.
The first half was a one-sided affair, with Nkana FC creating several scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize on their chances. Napsa Stars, on the other hand, struggled to find their footing, with their attacks being repelled by Nkana’s solid defense.
The second half was a different story altogether. Napsa Stars came out with renewed energy and purpose, pushing Nkana FC onto the back foot.
Head Coach Sipho Mumbi’s halftime talk seemed to have done the trick, as his team began to take control of the game.
Coach Mumbi also made some tactical changes, introducing fresh legs to boost his team’s attack. Emarson Kabwe made his debut for Tangala, replacing Evans Kayombo Jr. Keagan Zulu came in for Daniel Adoko in the 45th minute, while Collins Sikombe replaced Godfrey Binga in the 77th minute. These substitutions proved crucial, as they injected new life into Napsa Stars’ attack.
The decisive moment arrived in the 84th minute when Simon Nkhata scored the winning goal, courtesy of Collins Sikombe’s assist.
Head Coach Sipho Mumbi was overjoyed with the result, saying, “We needed a win, considering where we are on the log, but collecting maximum points makes us happy. It’s a big victory for us.”
The win has significant implications for Napsa Stars, as it propels them from 13th to 11th position on the log table, with 25 points.
As Napsa Stars bask in the glory of their victory, they know that their next challenge is just around the corner. They will travel to Lusaka to prepare for their upcoming home game against Green Eagles on Saturday.
With their confidence boosted by this win, Napsa Stars will be looking to build on this momentum and climb further up the log table.
