NAPSA Stars Football Club has today, concluded week two of its pre-season training since the team started its preparations for the 2022/23 MTN Super League campaign.
Team Head Coach Perry Mutapa has expressed excitement with how the team is shaping up so far.
“The boys came in good shape and what we have been doing is to put them back in the shape that they are supposed to be in. We have been doing drills with high volume and low intensity with a lot of strength work, and the boys are responding well.
“The most important thing after the team comes back from off-season is doing their medicals and checking their weights, all that went well,” Coach Perry explained.
Meanwhile, the club has also confirmed the amicable separation with seven players ahead of the new season.
The seven are, defender Amos Simwanza who had been on the books of NAPSA Stars since 2018. Simwanza joined the club under Coach Mohamed Fathi and helped the team survive relegation in that season.
Other players that have left the club include striker Laudi Mavugo who had been with the team since the 2019 Transitional league season.
Mavugo is famously known for being the joint top scorer that season with 10 goals alongside Austin Muwowo and with Zikiru Adams then of Forest Rangers.
Midfielder Joseph Malambwa, defenders Victor Mulenga and Kondwani Phiri, goalkeeper Emmanuel Mphasi and striker Kennan Silwimba are also part of the list of players that have been released.
Coach Perry has confirmed that he will finalize his 2022/23 squad as the team travels for its pre-season camping next week.
And Club Chairman John Chundu has thanked the released players for their time with the club, and wished them well in their future endeavors.
NAPSA Stars will be taking part in the MTN Super league after winning promotion from the Eden National Division One League.
