PENSIONERS CONTINUE TO SHINE AT HOME

NAPSA Stars Football Club has continued with their fine home form, beating F.C MUZA by three goals to nil in their match week-six of the MTN Super League played at Heroes Stadium on Saturday.

And Assistant Coach Sipho Mumbi says the support the team is receiving from home fans is playing an integral part in the team’s performance.  

The Perry Mutapa-coached side is yet to lose a match at home, with the results so seeing the team record two victories and one draw.

The team scored all the three goals in the second half after failing to capitalize on their chances in the first half.

The first chance came in the 19th minute when Musonda Kapembwa put in a great cross for Austin Banda who fail to convert with his header going wide.

Four minutes later, MUZA responded with a great shot on goal which came from Kondwani M’hango but was easily collected by Rodwell Mukwanya.

Another chance for the visitors came in the 27th minute when Bobo Kidimbu’s well taken free kick was parried off by Mukwanya.

It was striker Jimmy Mukeya who came in as substitute at the start of the second half, that scored the first goal for NAPSA Stars in this match in the 47th minute. Mukeya had a touch on from Austin Banda’s cross.

Musonda Kapembwa was also on the score sheet scoring NAPSA’s second goal in the 60th minute after benefiting from Jimmy Mukeya’s cross. Mukeya dribbled past a MUZA defender inside the box to find Kapembwa for an excellent finish.

The Pensioners continued to control proceedings even in the dying moments of the encounter, with Austin Banda scoring his second goal of the season, and a third for the Pensioners in this match in the 89th minute to see NAPSA Stars carry all the three points.

And in a post-match interview, assistant coach Sipho Mumbi said the victory has given NAPSA Stars momentum going into the next match.

The victory over MUZA has seen NAPSA Stars move eighth on the log with eight points from the six games played.
