Pensioners have returned their third position on the log after a barren draw against Jumulo FC in their week-28 fixture of the Eden National Division One League.
It was a tightly contested match played at Woodlands Stadium that saw the Perry Mutapa’s coached side struggle to get a goal against a Jumulo side that looked comfortable with a draw especially that they were playing away from home.
It was Jumulo that came through with an early warning in the seventh minute through Abraham Kunda who shot in close range but was denied the chance by Luka Banda.
The Pensioners responded in the 13th minute when Keegan Zulu headed a David Odhiambo cross into the cross bar.
Joseph Lungu had a great chance to get a goal for Napsa three minutes after that but his shot landed directly in the goalkeeper’s arms..
Jumulo’s Mike Musukuma managed to beat Napsa defense in the 17th minute but his close range shot effort hit the cross bar.
Coach Perry Mutapa who made four substitutions in this match, described the result as disappointing saying his players did not have the momentum to play the game.
“It was not a good game for us, but we have seven games to play so we just need to work hard,” Coach Perry said.
And Jumulo head Coach George Kapembwa described the game as a fair adding that his boys deserved the draw.
The coach who had nothing but praise for Napsa’s David Odhiambo, said his team was lacking an experienced player that could have gotten them a goal.
“We played a good team and this is a good result for us, we lacked an experienced player and playing a renowned player like Odhiambo was not easy for us,” Coach George Kapembwa said.
The Pensioners are now third on the log with 47 points after 27 games played. Jumulo now have 41 points and are seventh on the log after 28 games played.
