PENSIONERS HOLD ZESCO WITH A LAST MINUTE EQUALISER…

Burundian striker Laudit Mavugo scored in the last minute to see NAPSA Stars FC secure a point from eight-times League Champions Zesco United FC in yesterday’s week-one League game played at Woodlands Stadium.

The game ended 1-1 with Zesco’s goal being scored by Clement Mwape in the 11th minute.

The Pensioners did not have their best performance in this game which only saw this Mohamed Fathi coached side start pushing for an equalizer after making a few changes.

Striker Bornwell Mwape picked up an injury in the 20th minute and was replaced by Chanda Mushili.

Mavugo came in as substitute in the 51st minute replacing Timothy Otieno. Austin Banda was also introduced for John Sikaumbwe while Amos Simwanza was introduced for Luka Nguni who also picked up a knock.

The final whistle came immediately after NAPSA Stars FC scored their equalizer, and this angered the opponents who felt the referee Derick Kafuli could have ended the match before that.

And in a post-match interview, NAPSA Stars FC head coach Mohamed Fathi said his boys were a bit far from their performance last season, but was quick to add that the team is capable of bouncing back in the coming matches.

“It was a tough match but we managed to come back. We had issues with injuries and it affected us but we did our job. We will see a different performance in the next games,” Coach Fathi added.

Napsa Stars play their next game this Wednesday against Lusaka Dynamos FC, and another one against Young Green Eagles on Saturday November 7th, 2020.
