PENSIONERS SEEK REDEMPTION FROM ‘PRISON’

NAPSA Stars will this afternoon seek redemption as they host Prison Leopards in their last game of the first round.

The Pensioners return to Heroes Stadium for this week -17 of the MTN Super League encounter to be played at 15:00hrs.

Coach Perry Mutapa seems to have been sharpening the team’s striking force lately after having a goal drought in the past few games.

Heading into this encounter, only seven points separate the two sides with NAPSA Stars sitting in 14th position on the log having 18 points while Prison Leopards are sixth with 25 points.

NAPSA Stars looks to be a team that will give it all heading into this match as they will want to end their winless drought having recorded no win in their last seven games.

The pensioners recorded a one all draw against Nkana FC at home before narrowly getting a 1-0 defeat from the Hands of Forest Rangers away in Ndola.

Meanwhile, Prison Leopards are preparing for the match after two defeats in a row from Power Dynamos and Green Eagles respectively.

With both teams coming from a loss, the match is anticipated to be a competitive one as boo teams will be aiming to redeem themselves.

NAPSA Stars will want to win this game in order to avoid relegation as they sit just two points above it, while the Kabwe based team are aiming to get the three maximum points in order to keep alive, their dreams of qualifying for the 2022/23 ABSA Cup.

However, NAPSA Stars can capitalize on Prison Leopards’ poor defense as they have been conceding goals in all their last seven games.

But the Perry Mutapa coached side will need to do more looking at how they have not really been lucky in front of goal.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

NAPSA Stars have maintained dominance over Prison Leopards having beaten them twice both during the 2020/21 MTN Super league with the last one ending 2-1 before winning in the second round with the same score line.

In these head to head matches, NAPSA Stars have scored four goals in total while Prison Leopards have scored two.

Overall, NAPSA Stars have a better head-to-head record against Prison Leopards in their recent history.
