Coach Perry Mutapa has previewed NAPSA Stars’ week-five match of the MTN Super League with Power Dynamos during a Pre-match press briefing held via zoom yesterday.
NAPSA Stars FC is scheduled to visit Power Dynamos FC at Arthur Davis Stadium in Kitwe, at 15hours tomorrow. The team is coming from recording a victory against Green Eagles going into this match. Power Dynamos are also coming from recording a draw against FC MUZA.
The Coach talked to the media and this is how the pre-match was;
You face your old team this weekend, and your team is coming from recording their first win. What are your expectations going into this match?
A very important win for us, we needed that and we needed to record our goals.
Going back to my former team, I have great memories there. It’s a team which has good supporters and a great squad so it will not be easy. Last week they were at home and they drew .But we are also looking at maintaining our momentum after a win so it won’t be easy.
Who is in and out -any injury concerns in your team?
The whole team is up for selection .Everyone trained well so we will plan according to how we want to play and according to how our opponents play. The whole team is fit and up for selection.
You coached Power Dynamos for long and you’re going back to Kitwe, what mentality are you taking together with your team as you get back to play a team which was so dear to you?
I think in football you make great memories with some clubs. Power dynamos is a great team with a huge fan base and I still communicate with most of the executive members, players and supporters. But when it comes to the game, it’s a different situation during that 90minutes. I am now working for NAPSA Stars and obviously I want NAPSA Stars to win.
But I know Power also wants to win. It’s a game which friends will be divided because they have to pick on which team to support because I have friends who also support Power and those supporting NAPSA Stars. I know some will want me to win and others will want me to lose, but at the end of the day we wait for what will happen on the field.
Coach, you are coming from a win, facing a team which has dropped four points in their last two games. Does this give your an advantage going into this match?
I don’t think so, but it was important for our team to win and get two great goals. It’s a motivation to us. It won’t be easy facing a team that has not recorded a win in their last two matches because they also want to win. But we are from recording a victory against a great Eagles team and this was a great motivation for us. So it won’t be easy for both teams but we are up to the task as NAPSA Stars.
Any emotions attached while you prepared for this game?
Not really because I believe in life you have to be a professional. At the moment I’m a NAPSA Stars FC coach so my focus is on that. I have great memories at Power Dynamos and it’s a big team, I have friends there too but it’s work as usual.
Where do you think this game can be won or lost?
It can be won anywhere, I see Power having a good midfield comprising of Owen and Joshua who are good players so we have to be cautions and make sure we do our best.
Power has a big fan base. Will that be intimidating to your side?
I don’t think so. It’s a game of football. It’s normal to be nervous and I know Power get nervous too. But it’s all about coming to the party.
