WE NEED MORE DEPTH GOING INTO THE SUPER LEAGUE- COACH PERRY

NAPSA Stars Football Club Head Coach Perry Mutapa says his team needs more depth going into the Super League.

The Coach was saying this during his post-match interview after his team won the ABSA Cup title beating MTN Super League winners Red Arrows FC in a final played at Nkoloma Stadium on Saturday.

Coach Perry stressed that there was no need of his team going to sleep after they beat the best team in the League this season.

Before meeting NAPSA Stars, Red Arrows had lost only four matches out of 33 matches played in the season, and were declared Super League Champions with one League game to conclude the season.

Coach Perry expressed excitement with his team’s performance saying his boys worked according to the plan he set out for them.

“If we have to stand the test of time in the Super league, we have to have depth, so obviously we have to reinforce in certain areas,

“For this particular match, we had a plan. Arrows have been scoring goals for fun and to be able to hold them, we are very happy.  We told the boys what to do and they stuck to it,” Coach Perry added.

It was Arrows that issued their first threat in the fifth minute with a Diara shot in close range which was perfectly denied by NAPSA Stars goal minder Rodwell Mukwanya.

In the 16th minute, the Pensioners responded through Musonda Kapembwa who’s shot was parried back inside by Arrows Goalkeeper with no NAPSA player present to make a follow up reaction.

Kapembwa missed another chance in the 53rd minute when his shot just inside the box, went slightly over the bar.

Finally, a goal came for the Pensioners in the 58th minute through a Chaniza Zulu perfectly taken long range shot to give the Pensioners their dominance in this match. It was David Odhiambo that took a free kick which was not well cleared by Arrow’s Feddy Tshimenga and landed at Chaniza’s disposal.

Substitute James Chamanga had a chance in short range in the 64th minute when his header was parried off by Mukwanya to deny the Airmen from equalizing.

The Pensioners who have already qualified for the Super League, have their last League match against Gomes in Ndola to conclude the League.
