Young NAPSA Stars defender, Evans Banda, feels honoured to have been selected to join the senior team currently in Livingstone for the 2023/24 MTN Super League season preparations.
Coach Perry Mutapa has thoughtfully integrated five promising junior players into the 14-day preseason program to assess their readiness for the upcoming campaign, set to kick off on August 19, 2023.
The talented quintet comprises Farai Marabesa and Evans Kayombo, both skilled strikers, Nicholas Chisela, a gifted midfielder, goalkeeper Raphael Phiri, who strengthens the team’s defensive line as well as Evans Banda.
While the training routines differ from those of the junior team, Banda asserts that him and his friends are gradually adapting to the demands of the senior level.
Having spent seven seasons in the Young NAPSA setup, Banda is delighted to have finally earned a call-up to the senior squad and is determined to impress Coach Perry Mutapa during the training sessions.
Banda has had the privilege of playing alongside exceptional talents such as Jimmy Mukeya, Luka Banda, and Rodwell Mukwanya, all of whom also emerged from the Young NAPSA setup.
The player acknowledges the challenge of making it into the senior team but emphasizes that the coach continually reminds them that their fate lies in their own hands. He understands the need to exert maximum effort to prove their worthiness.
