ANOTHER TRICKY GAME BUT WE ARE READY TO WORK- COACH PERRY

All roads lead to Nkoloma Stadium this afternoon as the Pensioners host ZANACO Football Club for a match week-11 of the MTN Super League at 13h00.

Speaking in a pre-match press briefing held via zoom with the media yesterday, Coach Perry Mutapa indicated that he this is a new NAPSA Stars which will not dwell on the last results recorded against Zanaco in their last meetings.

Zanaco beat NAPSA Stars both home and away in their last meeting in the 2020/21 season, the season which also saw the Pensioners existed from the elite league.  

The Coach has indicated that his team is fully focused on recording maximum points in this match.

And on his team selection, Coach Perry has indicated that he will be without the services of Austin Banda who misses out on this weekend’s fixture again owing to injury.

Simon Nkhata and Danny Silavwe are also still nursing injuries. The coach has indicated that the rest of the squad is up for selection.

MATCH OVERVIEW AND FORM GUIDE

NAPSA Stars came close to sitting third in their last fixture but their 0-0 result recorded against Buildcon saw the team drop to sixth position with 16 points from the 10 games played.

Zanaco on the other hand are also coming from recording a draw in their last match, but sitting 12th on the log with 12 points from the 10 games played.

But Coach Perry has indicated that this will not cause any form of underrating from his team which is fully focused on collecting maximum points in this match.

“We are coming from a draw against Buildcon and prior to that, we had won two games. We want to win this one.  It’s a local derby and it will not be easy so we cannot look at the fact that they are below us on the log, it’s another tricky game for us,” Coach Perry adds.

The Sensational side is being coached by two coaches in Emmanuel Amunike, former Nigeria national team player and Kelvin Kaindu who both sit on the technical bench.

Coach Perry, full of praise for both coaches, has indicated that it will be a tough test against these two, but still confident of recording maximum points today.

“May the best tactics on this day win,” Adds Coach Perry.

A win for the Pensioners today will see the team third, depending on how results will turn out for teams on the top. Zanaco are also looking at a possible seventh or eighth position today if results on in their favor this afternoon.

TEAM NEWS

Once again Austin Banda and Simon Nkhata miss out from team selection owing to injuries.

The game has been taken to Nkoloma as it will be beamed live on Supersport, with Red Arrows also hosting Forest Rangers at 15h00, at the same venue.

HEAD TO HEAD

It has been a crazy ride between these two teams who have shared more draws in their records.

But Zanaco managed to beat both home and away in their last meeting during the 2020/21 MTN Super League season.
