LUMWANA HOST NAPSA IN A WEEK-3 MATCH TODAY

THE MTN Super League enters week-three this afternoon and NAPSA Stars FC is set to take on North-western outfit Lumwana Radiants FC.

This is in an away fixture scheduled for Lumwana Stadium in Lumwana, North-western.

The Pensioners are yet to record a victory this season, having drawn both their previous two matches against Red Arrows and Nkwazi FC respectively.

The Perry Mutapa-coached side is also yet to score a goal in the league this season, but this has not entirely worried the gaffer who stresses that he is positive the goals will come especially with how the team is creating chances.

“A very big game for us, with the previous results, we need a victory at all costs, but we are playing a team that is strong at home so it won’t be easy, but we are here to push for a positive result, says Coach Perry.

The coach also adds that Lumwana has not been an easy opponent for his side with the recent result seeing Napsa Stars lose by a goal to nil when the two teams met in the National Division One League.


MATCH OVERVIEW AND TEAM FORM

Both teams are coming fresh from National Division One League having won promotion to the Super League.

The two teams spent only a season in Division One and will want to prove a point in today’s match.

Lumwana won the National Division One League which was by the sponsored by Eden University, but the Pensioners will also come into this match having won the 2022 ABSA Cup competition.

NAPSA Stars head into todays match having drawn both their week one and week two matches against Arrows and Nkwazi respectively.

The team is also yet to register a goal in the league with the games played ending in barren draws.

Lumwana on the other hand are coming from recording a defeat against Power Dynamos, losing by 3goals to 1 at Arthur Davis Stadium.

The Bilton Musonda Coached side also won their first match by the same margin when they hosted Green Eagles FC in week one.


TEAM NEWS

Coach Perry has indicated that he will still be without his star central defender David Odhiambo who suffered an ankle sprain in the first league match.

NAPSA Stars arrived in North-western Province on Thursday and the team has been camped in Solwezi ahead of this match.

The coach carried his strong 20-man squad to take on Lumwana this afternoon.


KEY PLAYERS:

Chaniza Zulu (NAPSA Stars FC)- The midfielderwill be returning to his former club and will have something to prove in today’s match playing his former club.

The player however has not had his best game so far.

Musonda Kapembwa (NAPSA Stars) – The midfielder is also returning to his former club and will want to have an impressive game today.

Sydney Kalume (NAPSA Stars) The veteran defensive midfielder had an impressive game in week one and two providing his experience in the squad.

Dickson Chapa (NAPSA Stars) – Chapa who has returned from his Zesco United FC after spending a season there and is likely to feature in today’s match after having an impressive performance in the last two matches.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The two teams last met in the NATIONAL Division One league last season beating each other in each half.
