PENSIONERS HOST NKWAZI AT HEROES STADIUM TODAY

NAPSA Stars Football Club Head Coach Perry Mutapa says the team is hoping to bring back the memories of Profund Warriors now that Club has adopted Heroes Stadium for its home games.

The Head Coach has also said that he anticipates a tough and highly explosive match against Nkwazi FC today in a match week-two of the MTN Super League.

Coach Perry says Nkwazi are coming from a loss and will come wounded in this match, adding that his side will need to come to the party to beat the Police sponsored side.

And the Pensioners will play their first home game at Heroes this afternoon after announcing that the team will play its 2022/23 home games at that stadium.

“Profund warriors used to play at Matero Stadium, so we know we will get a good fan base there, and we are hoping to utilize that and bring back the memories of Profund warriors,” Coach Perry said.

The Coach has expressed his excitement playing at Heroes Stadium saying the pitch is conducive enough especially for the type of football NAPSA Stars plays.

MATCH OVERVIEW

NAPSA Stars FC head coach Perry Mutapa will be looking for a victory in today’s match especially looking at how the team drew in the first league match.

And when asked about the last meeting against Nkwazi, Coach Perry stressed that NAPSA Stars will not dwell on the last meeting which saw the Pensioners lose by a goal to nil and relegated to the lower League.

“There’s nothing like revenge, I can’t even remember that result because I was not here, but this is a different ball game and we are ready for battle,” Coach Perry said.

Coming from a loss in their first match against Power Dynamos, the Police sponsored side will no doubt be fighting for a victory in today’s match.

The two teams last met in the 2020/2022 MTN Super League match. In this match, Nkwazi beat Napsa Stars by a goal to nil to see the Chintu Kampamba by then led team relegated to the Eden National Division One League.

TEAM NEWS

NAPSA Stars will be without the services of Central Defender David Odhiambo who sustained an injury in a week-one match played against Red Arrows FC.

The Nkwazi camp has been boosted with 10 new players ahead of this match, among them is 2012 AFCON winning player Chisamba Lungu.

SOME KEY PLAYERS

Sydney Kalume- The veteran defensive midfielder had an impressive game in week one providing his experience in the squad.

Dickson Chapa (NAPSA Stars) – Chapa who has returned from his Zesco United FC after spending a season there and is likely to feature in today’s match after having an impressive performance in the last match played against Red Arrows FC.

Keegan Zulu– The midfielder was voted man of the match in the last match and will try to work hard to maintain that good performance.

Chisamba Lungu (Nkwazi FC)– The 2012 AFCON winning player finished the league with 16 goals last season and will be looking forward to a great game today against NAPSA Stars.

Christopher Zulu (Nkwazi) – The striker has been on top of his game for the Police side and will be looking forward to impress in today’s match.

Jeff Banda- The skillful midfielder is always a marvel to watch and will want to impress in today’s match.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The two teams last met in the MTN Super League in 2020/21 season. The first leg saw Napsa Stars win by a goal to nil while Nkwazi beat NAPSA by the same margin in the second leg.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 15:00hrs at Heroes Stadium.

Tickets are being sold at the stadium at K10. K50 and K100.
