PENSIONERS IN SEARCH OF A FOURTH CONSECUTIVE WIN

NAPSA Stars Football Club will this afternoon face a relegation threatened Mighty Mufulira Wanderers FC in their week-13 match of the Eden National Division One League set for Shinde Stadium.

The Pensioners will be looking at recording another victory to make it four in a role after coming from their recent victory against Lumwana Radiants.

Team Head Coach, Perry Mutapa has drilled his strong 18-man squad that travelled to the Copperbelt yesterday, November 27, 2021, and lodged in Ndola ahead of today’s match.

“It will not be easy away in Mufulira, but we will try our best as a team sitting on top to get a fourth consecutive win,” says coach Perry Mutapa ahead of this match.

And defender David Odhiambo has also added that the team is not under pressure going into this match, but will take each game as it comes.

“We have experience from both teams especially coming from Super league, but for us, it’s all about working hard in this match and being level headed, “Odhiambo adds.

He says the team knows what is required of them and everyone in camp is hopeful of getting a positive result today.

Defender Luka Banda will captain the side.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Coach Perry will not be expected to make major changes from this winning team of three games.

Mukwanya still expected to start in goal in today’s match following his excellent performance in the last three matches.

Thomas Banda still favorite to start upfront in today’s match.

In form Midfielder Austin Banda will be returning to his former team this afternoon as he leads Coach Perry’s the midfield.

BOTH TEAMS

Hosts, Mufulira Wanders are second from bottom with 12 points from 12 games played. They have won three games, drawn three and lost six.

NAPSA Stars FC on the other hand are topping the log with 26 points from eight games won, two drawn and two lost after playing 12 games.

The last time these two teams met was in 2019/2020 Season of the Super League with NAPSA Stars FC beating Mighty Mufulira Wanderers FC by four goals to nil at the Heroes Stadium. It was the same season that same Wanderers demoted to National Division One.

The Pensioners joined Wanderers in National Division one after the 2020/2021 season.
