PENSIONERS OPEN A FIVE POINT LEAD AFTER LUMWANA VICTORY..

The Pensioners recorded their third consecutive victory on Saturday after beating North Western side Lumwana Radiants FC in their week-12 match of the Eden National Division One League.

It was clear that both sides were hoping to get maximum points from this fixture especially coming from recording victories in their previous games, and also to help them maintain top four positions on the log.

The visitors had a good start and issued a number of threats most notably coming in the 5th minute from a Christopher Tika cross inside the box that was cleared by Luka Banda.

Another chance came in the 8th minute with Luka Banda clearing Lumwana’s chance on the line when goalkeeper Rodwell Mukwanya was tactically beaten by a Lumwana striker.

NAPSA Stars had their first short on target in the 39th minute and it was enough to break the deadlock when Musonda Kapembwa headed the ball in from Luka Nguni’s long throw in.

In the 53rd minute, Austine Banda had a chance to double the lead for the pensioners but he was blocked by Lumwana’s Joe Simbuwa who received a yellow for this challenge.

NAPSA Stars Goalkeeper Rodwell Mukwanya had a number of great saves through out the game to see him being voted player of the match after 90 minutes.

Coach Perry made three changes to this side introducing Eric Yema for Musonda Kapembwa, Joseph Malambwa for Chanda Mushili, Simon Nkhata for Aaron Kabwe and Daniel Adoko for Thomas Banda.

And in his post-match interview, coach Perry said he was happy with the result which saw his side extend their lead on the long by five points.

The coach said his side made a few mistakes but what was important was the three points at the end of the game.

“I am happy for this victory, we have won three in a role and that just because of the great work from the guys, we look forward to the next one,” Coach Perry added.

The pensioners maintained top position with 26 points, five points better than second placed Trident FC with 21 points.
