PENSIONERS SECURE GOALLESS DRAW AGAINST KANSANSHI

NAPSA Stars FC 0-0 Kansanshi Dynamos FC

After two consecutive losses at the beginning of the league season, the Pensioners managed to secure a goalless draw against Kansanshi Dynamos FC in their third match of the MTN Super League played at Woodlands Stadium on September 2, 2023.

Both teams displayed a strong desire to win, with NAPSA Stars launching numerous counterattacks that failed to break through the solid defense of Kansanshi Dynamos.

The first half saw Kansanshi Dynamos take the initiative, with a close call as the ball hit the crossbar in the 20th minute.

In the 33rd minute, NAPSA Stars responded with a dangerous shot that forced the goalkeeper to tip it over the crossbar.

The visitors also had a chance in the first half’s additional time, with striker Ronald Kampamba missing a close-range header.

The second half witnessed fewer scoring opportunities for both teams, resulting in less action.

However, the real drama unfolded towards the end of the match when the center referee Emmanuel Chisha initially blew the final whistle in the 3rd minute of the official five-minute additional time. Later, the game resumed for just a minute before abruptly ending, leaving the technical benches in confusion and shock as NAPSA Stars were denied the chance to take their corner kick.

In a post-match interview, NAPSA Stars’ Head Coach, Perry Mutapa, expressed satisfaction with the goalless draw, especially after the two previous defeats.

The Coach mentioned that he found several positives from the game and believed that the team had made improvements.

Furthermore, the team continued to create scoring opportunities, keeping Coach Perry confident about securing a victory in the upcoming matches.

“We had our chances but couldn’t convert, yet we take away positives from this game and a clean sheet,” Coach Perry remarked.

On the other hand, Kansanshi Dynamos’ coach, Boyd Mulwanda, expressed happiness about his team earning a point in an away match.

“It was a tough game for us. NAPSA reacted to their two recent losses and challenged us. Securing a draw away from home isn’t bad,” he stated.

The Pensioners’ upcoming fixture is an away match against Kabwe Warriors FC in their week-four match slated for September 16, 2023.
