PRESS CONFERENCE// COACH PERRY SPEAKS AHEAD OF FOREST MATCH TOMORRIOW

We play forest tomorrow. What are your expectations from this match?

It is going to be a big encounter for both teams but more especially for us because we have not been doing well in the last games, so we will go for the kill, but it is a game of three results.

You’re going back to a team you once coached for a long time, any pressure going into this match?

I do not think so because as NAPSA Stars, in terms of performance we have done well, but obviously the results have not been coming. We are looking forward to correct the mistakes we have been making more especially that we are creating a lot of chances, but just to bury them has been a problem so we are working on that. Of late we have allowed silly goals but I still think we are a good team and we are going to come back.

Your team has struggled to pick up points in the past few matches, what do you think you should do different to win this match?

I think the most important thing is to lessen on the mistakes especially in the last few games where we have allowed teams to score. We are a team which is good at defending, I think that was the foundation even last season when we were in the National League. In terms of allowing goals we did well equally this time I think we are among the best who have not allowed a lot of goals, but we just need to improve on that. So, the most important thing is to just burry the chances we are creating.

You have not recorded a win away, what’s your approach heading into this match?

For me the approach obviously will be the same because football is a project and the most important thing again, I will say it over again, is just to bury the ball, to put it into the net.

The most important thing is to encourage the boys to have the composure when they have the chances. I believe not winning away from home will be the thing of the past because yes, we have played so many games without a win, but we are looking forward to breaking that jink.

Your team is just from confirming its failure to qualify for ABSA, how are you psyching your players as we head into this match following this Development?

That was our short-term goal because we are a team that is coming from a National League and yes, we wanted to defend the ABSA and you should know that in Zambia, it is one team which has defended the ABSA Cup which is ZESCO. It is not easy to defend, we really wanted to do that but I think we have come in the premier league and the most important thing is to have stability in the premier league.

It cannot make sense, yes, we won the ABSA when we were in Division One, It can’t make sense if we had to cry about not defending the ABSA and then be demoted. Our main focus now is to stabilize in the premier league, and we would want to make sure we stay in the premier league then the ABSA, we will think about it next season.

How are you looking at Forest Rangers FC as an opponent looking at how they have had a great performance in the league so far?

I think they have a very good defence, they have not scored a lot of goals but the times they have scored one, I think they have defended very well. It is a team which is good and I think the morale in their camp is high because even in their last game against log leaders Power Dynamos, they drew 0-0 so they have the confidence but equally us, I think that is our job, we are pushing our boys. In this league the difference is minimal, it is just one or two wins you climb the ladder.

In our case, maybe a win depending on other results we are 12th, but if we win, we can find ourselves on eighth position. We have the confidence that if we just get one win everything will change. For now, we have not won so many games but look at where we are, we are getting that confidence that when we just get one win, I think the morale will be back in camp and I think it will just have to continue when we get that win.

Any Injury Concerns?

Simon Nkhata has fully recovered, and he has made it to the team. Rodwell Mukwanya of course just started training, there is David Odhiambo who is injured, Augustine Mulenga limped off in the last game against Nkana. I think that is it.
